Frequently asked questions

  • When can I collect food or medication?

You can collect food and medication from our front desk Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. For some products, we recommend contacting us in advance so that we can check whether they are in stock.

  • Which types of pet food do you keep in stock, and can you order other brands?

We keep most Hill's veterinary diets in stock. We can also order other brands, such as Sanimed or Trovet. For special orders, we ask for payment in advance.

  • Can I collect antibiotics or pain relief medication without a consultation?

By law, we cannot supply antibiotics, painkillers, prednisone or certain ear, eye and skin medications without first examining your pet. Our veterinary nurses will explain the requirements and adivse you to book a consultation so that we can examine your pet properly.

  • How do repeat prescriptions for long-term medication work?

For pets with a chronic condition, repeat medication can usually be collected when needed. We do ask you to bring your pet in for regular check-ups so that we can monitor their health, assess any changes and make sure the dosage remains appropriate.

  • Which flea or tick treatmnet is suitable for my pet?

The most suitable product depends on your pet’s species, weight, health and lifestyle. Our veterinary nurses are happy to advise you on the most appropriate option. If your pet has fleas, it is also important to treat their environment, including their bedding and blankets.

  • How often should I deworm my pet?

This depends on your pet’s age, lifestyle and diet. For pets fed a raw meat diet, we often recommend monthly testing or deworming treatment. Pets fed kibble are usually dewormed every three months. Our veterinary nurses are happy to advise you on the most suitable approach.

  • What should I do if my pet has a tick?

You can remove the tick yourself using tick tweezers or a tick-removal tool. If you are unable to remove it or are unsure how to do so, our veterinary nurses will be happy to help. If part of the tick remains in the skin or the area becomes irritated, we can arrange a short check-up.

  • Can I ask a veterinary nurse for advice by phone or at the front desk?

You can often ask simple questions at the front desk or by phone. For more detailed advice, or if your pet has symptoms, we recommend booking an appointment with a veterinary nurse or a consultation with a veterinarian. This ensures that we have enough time to properly help you and your pet.
